Looking for Ipcam Cameras? Then have a look below to see what we have on offer, stock changes daily
How do I set up this IPCam with the gateway and router that I have already?
How do I set up the Airlink101 AIC250W Wireless Camera through my current DSL service with a Netopia 3300 Series ADSL gateway and a Linksys WRT54G router so that I am able to see videos from my camera installed at my shop even I am sitting in front of my computer at home? I have tried many times forwarding the port 81 (as the manual has, by default, guided me to) on my Linksys router to 192.168.1.240 which is the IP address of the camera, but I still can't view any video from the camera when I am using a computer outside that local network. Is there any other port or anything I haven't done that prevents me from viewing? Would there be any tricks in setting up these that I do not know? I need to fix the problem as soon as possible. Thank you for your help! I appreciate it. =)

Articles and News about Ipcam Cameras
Choosing between IP and analog security cameras is one of the first and hardest choices facing any prospective buyer of a CCTV system, whether it is for home surveillance or for monitoring a business. Both types of systems have advantages and disadvantages, and manufacturers don't try to make it easy to decide between them. There is a lot of hype and marketing buzz right now because of the growth of the industry.
Both types of cameras work through the use of CCD and CMOS chips. These chips turn visible light (and in some cases infrared light) into a signal. Analog cameras turn this signal into something that a television can see, very much like a camcorder. IP based cameras do something a little more complicated. They take the information from the chip and feed the analog signal into an encoder. This encoder is combined with an onboard web server. This allows for the camera to become a network device. This allows it to be viewed by users over an existing or new network like a web page.
Analog cameras have been around since the 1970's, starting out as vacuum tube based devices. Since then the cameras have gotten better and better. Improvements to resolutions have occurred every year. But the improvements go beyond increasing resolution. Auto-iris lens have made dealing with florescent lighting situations easier. Backlight controls have been introduced to help with bright lights coming into an area, like light streaming in through a window next to a door. Privacy masks built into PTZs can handle some of the concerns over misuse of CCTV cameras.
Analog cameras have a variety of ways of transmitting the signal, from wireless to coax, to Cat5 using different connector types. This makes long distance runs in the same building much easier since you can use the right and most cost effective cable for each run. The variety of cable types can be both confusing and useful at the same time. Cat5 works for very short runs that are less than 250 ft. Professional grade baluns can be run up to 2500 ft.
IP cameras grew from the humble web cameras. The idea behind them was to move some of intelligence from the DVR to the camera itself. Many of the current IP cameras have their own built in motion detection. This allows some cameras to record to SD cards inside the camera itself, offering a layer of redundancy. Other features include adding an analog output to the camera so that it can become a bridge between an analog system and an IP based system.
IP cameras can be connected to a network by either wireless transmissions or by Cat5. Through the use of switches/hubs/and routers the Cat5 can be extended almost indefinitely. The use of IP cameras can require the installation of new RJ-45 jacks. Existing jacks generally are not well placed to secure the camera's connections. Some IP cameras are hybrid in nature, allowing for both network and analog connections. Toshiba's line of IP cameras generally has this feature.
Analog Pros:
- Cost: Analog cameras generally have a better price to performance ratio then IP.
- Flexibility of design: There are many varies of camera types, from small covert cameras to large PTZs to indoor domes with IR. This can make fulfilling certain goals easier by using a camera designed for your needs.
- Compatibility: Analog cameras put out either NTSC or PAL signals. In North America, almost any camera you buy will be NTSC. This makes it easy to use existing cameras, or mix and match vendors for equipment.
- Maturity: Many of the teething problems have been worked out. Things like privacy masks (blacking out an area for privacy on a PTZ) and back light compensation exist from lesions learned in the past.
Analog Cons:
- Analog cameras don't have some of the features like built in digital zoom that IP have, except at the highest price points.
- Wireless Analog cameras have problems with interference and are unencrypted. Anyone can view the signal.
- Analog cameras can be harder to deal with over long distances.
IP Pros:
- Better wireless support: Analog wireless has more problems with interference then network based cameras. The 802.11x standards have encryption built into them.
- IP cameras can take advantage of already existing wiring.
- Adding one or two cameras at a remote site can be easier.
IP Cons:
- High bandwidth use: It varies by camera but 500kbps to 1.5 Mbps is a common range.
- Cost: Because of the cost of the hardware that is moved onto the camera, IP cameras cost more then comparable analog cameras.
- Vendor lock-in: Many third part applications support more then one type of camera but most vendors only support their cameras. Given that not all brands support all features, it can make selecting the right brand hard unless you turn to a third party.
It is important to assess your situation and evaluate both options, not only for your current needs, but for expansion possibilities in the future as well.

My vga connection on my laptop won't work?
My VGA connection on my laptop has stopped working. I don't think its a driver problem. It happened when i pulled the vga cable out while it was connected to the tv.
Look at the hieroglyphs along the function keys. Hit the Fn modifier switch, hold it, and then hit the function key that controls video out/monitors. Most laptops have been like this since the early 90's, Apple excluded.

Article With VGA Connection Related Information
VGA Cables are extension cables which transmit video signals between PC’s or laptops and displays or projectors. They are also referred to as VGA extension, Computer Cable, Monitor cable, and VGA video cable. These cables extend the amount of distance you can separate a PC from a display, and typically can allow users to view the display up to 100 feet away from the computer. For distances over 100ft and up to 1000 ft, VGA video extender over Cat5 and UTP VGA Video Splitter Extender are recommended as VGA Cables can become costly. Construction of the VGA computer cables ensures that they provide excellent picture quality at a resolution of 1600 x 1200 without ghosting or degradation of images. These video cables are compatible with PC, SUN or MAC systems with VGA Video connectors.
Manufactured using coaxial and twisted pair signal lines plus ferrite cores on either end, these cables provide optimum video performance. Copper braiding and aluminized Mylar foil are used to shield the VGA connector. The gold plated pins on these connectors enable noise suppression whereas the triple shielding feature ensures that there is no loss of data. These cables are constructed using the multicoax technology. These cables are UL tested and certified and are available in lengths ranging from 3 ft to 100 ft. The VGA video cable or monitor cable is available with male to male as well as male to female connectors. These connectors have 15-pins in three rows of five pins each and are found on most video cards, computer monitors, cameras, projectors and high definition televisions which support VGA connections. Their main job is to carry the analog component of the video signals.
With changes in technology, DVI cables are slowly replacing the VGA cable. However the older versions of graphics cards still use the 15 pins VGA interface to connect the video graphics controller and monitor. These cables are also priced much cheaper than those which can also transmit digital signals and are used in networking applications. VGA cables are great to use in existing applications as a cost effective solution over replacing older configurations with digital technology in order to extend the life of your projects.

If you want to buy Motion Alarms, you'll find some money saving offers below.
What kind of motion detector will alert me to deer etc in my garden?
I would like to make an alarm system for my garden to detect deer and maybe smaller animals, that the dog would then shoo away. The garden is 100 feet from my house and measures 75x75 feet. What is the best type of motion detector for this application? Wired or wireless, battery or line voltage, manufacturer, the more specifics the happier I'll be!
Here is what I use.
I have a hard wired motion detector flood light made by Cooper Lighting. It covers a large area. The light has a box that you plug in, inside the house. It will sound a chime or turn on a light to let you know the light outside has been triggered. You can buy multiple outside sensors to cover an even larger area.
The deer set it off easily, as do the turkeys, however the rabbits only set it off about half of the time. Only draw back is that when it gets really windy the trees' movement will set it off.

Article With Motion Alarm Related Information
Though they protect out home, belongings, and even our lives from outside dangers, many of us don't understand how burglar alarms work.
In the Good Old Days, how burglar alarms work was simple—the dog barked. But now, how burglar alarms work has become a multi-million dollar science in an industry that is growing rapidly and advancing every day.
We asked Home Security Store's founder and owner Stacey Winn to help us explain how burglar alarms work.
"You'll find that there's a huge variety in alarm systems, from do-it-yourself kits to whole-house wired systems. But most alarms work on the same basic principles, and even the most complex system is based on a pretty basic concept of how burglar alarms work," says Winn.
How Burglar Alarms Work: Circuit Alarms
The most common first line of defense when it comes to how burglar alarms work is to use the circuit principle. You can have two kinds of circuit alarm: closed circuit or open circuit.
The basic concept is the same: you run an electrical circuit through a door or window. In an open circuit, the electrical current is not completed until the door or window is open, which then triggers the alarm. The only drawback to this system is that all the criminal has to do is cut the wires to prevent the circuit from being completed. In a closed circuit, the current is broken when the door or window is open, triggering the alarm. The all-important control box monitors all the doors and windows and once the circuit is broken, the control box will keep sounding the alarm till someone resets it with a predetermined code.
The control box is often placed in an out of the way place so a criminal can't easily find it and break it.
The closed-circuit method of how burglar alarms work can be used all around the perimeter of the home. Just create a circuit that will be broken when a criminal tries to enter and you have an alarm system. To make sure the alarm goes off if the window is broken rather than simply slid open; make the glass itself a circuit by running a current through it with a thin foil wire.
Even floor mats can be made into an open circuit alarm. When someone steps on the mat, the circuit is completed and an alarm sounds.
You can surround your home with a closed circuit alarm system that will sound the alarm when an intruder breaks the circuit. But once the criminal is inside, you need a whole different approach to how burglar alarms work.
How Burglar Alarms Work: Basic Motion Detectors
Circuit alarms are highly effective around the outside of your home and business because criminals have to get past the perimeter to get inside. But once they are inside, their movements are too unpredictable to have circuits everywhere inside the house. So then you have to rely on motion detectors.
You run into motion detectors all the time when you are approaching an automatically opening door that uses a radar-based motion detector. A control box above the door sends out radar waves (either microwave or ultrasonic) and then waits for those waves to be reflected back in an irregular pattern, indicating a presence is in the space. For automatic doors, that reflection detection opens the doors, while in an alarm system, it triggers the alarm.
So a motion detector works by constantly monitoring a room for irregular wave patterns. When a room is empty, the radar waves behave one way. But when motion is presented in the room, the pattern changes and the sensor detects the change to trigger the alarm.
How Burglar Alarms Work: More Advanced Motion Sensors
Other than radar-based motion detectors, there are also photo-sensor motion detectors. How burglar alarms work in this case involves beams of light. You aim the beam of light at a light sensor across a passageway in your house. When someone walks through it, the light beam is broken and the sensor triggers the alarm.
More advanced are passive infrared (PIR) motion sensors. These motion detectors see the heat given off by a body. Though the infrared energy tends to fluctuate in any given space, a PIR motion sensor only triggers the alarm when the energy rises rapidly, i.e. when a human, whose average body temperature is 98.6 degrees, enters an otherwise approximately 80-degree room.
If you have a motion sensor alarm system, there is usually delay of a few seconds on the control box to give you a chance to disengage the alarm when you enter the room.
How burglar alarms work has advanced beyond barking dogs and strung-up pots and pans. The science of how burglar alarms work applies measurements of time and space, incorporating the whole room into its security. A good alarm system would combine both circuit and motion sensor alarms, giving you two lines of defense when it comes to how burglar alarms work.
