Articles and News about Video Security
If you own a business, then no matter what size it is you should seriously consider implementing a video security system if you do not already have one. There are many benefits of installing this kind of system at your place of business, ranging from safety issues to money-saving benefits.
For instance, say you own a chain of gas stations. At the store for each of these gas stations, you will have one or two employees working at any given time. Customers will be not only using the gas pumps outside in order to fill their cars with gas, but also using the store's restrooms, buying snack or drink items in your store itself, and driving in and out of the parking lot / gas filling area.
Obviously, that's a lot of things for one person, or even two people, to keep track of. In fact, it's more or less impossible. Imagine the following scenario takes places in two different gas stations, one which has a video security system in place, and one which does not.
One evening shift, Jim is working the register by himself at a gas station without video security. Around 9PM, business starts to pick up and he spends all his time checking out customers and activating the pumps after they pay. There's a sudden screeching outside, followed by a sickening crunch as a reckless driver smashes into another car. Both the drivers come in, angry and yelling and demanding that Jim decide who was at fault. After Jim gets them to leave, still angry because he couldn't tell them the answer, two young men pull a gun on him and demand he hand over all the money in the register. Terrified, he does so. To put the icing on the cake, he finds five empty soda cans in the back of the store, and vulgar graffiti outside.
The benefits of video security in this scenario would be:
* Stop thieves before they strike
* Track customers while in the store to prevent shoplifting
* Keep an eye on customers outside for quick reaction in case of an emergency
* Record everything for insurance purposesAcross the street, Fred is working in a store with video security. He witnesses a car accident of his own, but since it's on the video system, can easily tell who was at fault. Unbeknownst to Fred, the two young men who will go on to rob Jim had earlier scoped his gas station out instead. However, they had noticed the cameras on the ceiling of Fred's store, and decided to try their luck elsewhere. Fred has excellent inventory control, and hasn't seen a shoplifter in ages.
While this may seem an extreme example, it neatly sets out some of the benefits of a video security system.
Of course, businesses aren't the only places that can use video security. Even in a residential setting, a system can help to increase your security by deterring thieves and by helping you to see who is at your door, for instance. The benefits are as various as the situation in which the system is used.
