My vga connection on my laptop won't work?
My VGA connection on my laptop has stopped working. I don't think its a driver problem. It happened when i pulled the vga cable out while it was connected to the tv.
Look at the hieroglyphs along the function keys. Hit the Fn modifier switch, hold it, and then hit the function key that controls video out/monitors. Most laptops have been like this since the early 90's, Apple excluded.

Since I'm really using this as a glorified video switcher, I'd prefer not to go high end to get these features, but will do what I have to!
The most I've seen seen is 3 inputs on even the most high end receivers....even the new flagship Yamaha receiver the RX-Z11 which is coming out in November has 4, that receiver in itself is probably going to cost over 5,000$.
I have a Pelican Game Switcher which has 8 a/v inputs all of which have component, the first 3 inputs also have optical and ethernet ports.....I think a new version is available with HDMI, but if all you're looking for is multiple component inputs a video game oriented switcher would be the way to go.

How do I connect my Tivo Series 2 DVR to my laptop via wireless router?
I have tivo connected already to my desktop. Just bought a wireless router and a laptop. How do I put Tivo on my "home network" via wireless router. I'm also looking to print from my laptop wirelessly but don't know how to set it up.
I just did this this weeked and what a pain it was for me (I have Vonage).
The only adapter that works with Tivo for wireless is the Tivo adapter. Sure, Tivo says there are adapters out there that will work, but they are for B networks only and after searching at Best Buy, Frys, and Office Depot for a B network adapter(they don't exist) I had no choice but to buy the Tivo one--so save yourself some sanity and just buy it. NONE of the G network adapters work, NONE OF THEM. I've got a bag of them to prove it. Is your router for Broadband? If not, it will still work but your internet connection is shot. Again, I had to buy the Broadband Router from Linksys.
Connect your cable modem to the router; connect your router to your desktop. Make sure all of that is in working order.
Now, for the fun part. Go to Tivo into your settings to setup your Tivo onto your network. Find your home network (you had to name it something) in the list and enter your PASS KEY (that long number with letters & numbers). It will attempt to connect and you'll probably get an error message but connect again--if you did it right it will download. If you set it up wrong...as tempting as it is to pull your hair out don't and recheck every connection on your network. **If your desktop says the setup for the router worked fine then your Tivo may have trouble if it's too far away or there could be some interference with the router & another device like a cordless phone or you cable modem. **
Your laptop, same thing. You have to locate your home network and enter in your Pass Key to access your internet service.
