Pay per click search engines
- LookSmart
- Professional pay per click. Supplies results to MSN, AltaVista, IWon
and more
- Marketing51
- Pretty quick, but the design looks very untidy, tricks you into making
them your 'Home Page'. Their contact e-mail address is an ****@aol.com,
which reduces credibility
- Metaeureka
- Nice design, quick to search and returns relevant results
- Metamission
- Claims to be a full parallel metasearch engine, however when I did
a search it couldn't return any matches
- Mitefind -
Searchers need a big monitor to see this site. Searches quickly, although
results can be less than relevant
- Mobysurf -
Pages are slow to load, search results are sparse and pop-ups are present
- MyGeek - Specialist
shopping PPC engine, bringing together buyers and sellers. Fairly quick
- Najula - I couldn't
get it to do a search without coming back with an 'Internal Server Error'
message. It turns out the guy who operates this engine set it up to
pay for his daughters education, or so it says on the about us page
- Netclicked
- Nice looking design, a bit slow and no results returned if the search
term is a bit niche
- Netflip - More
low quality clicks, they pay searchers to click through the search results,
so any click-thru's you get are totally untargeted. Don't waste your
money
- Noozletters
- A search directory containing links to newsletters and ezines, add
your newsletter or ezine for FREE (Probably only going to be free for
a limited time)
- Ohspot - Gave
up waiting for this one to load its home page
- Onesearch
- Minimalist search engine (basic and simple are probably better descriptions)
- Overture -
Originally called Goto, probably the biggest PPC engine, worth being
on although keywords are very competitive and subsequently expensive
- Pageseeker
- Nice design, a bit slow loading though. Failed to return any meaningful
results when I searched
- Pointcom -
Tries to TRICK searchers who come to the site into making pointcom their
homepage. I lost all faith in them so didn't test any further, give
this pay per click a miss
- Runquest -
Doesn't really return relevant results
- Sabril - More
low quality clicks here, this PPC engine pays searchers to click through
on any listing whether they're are interested in the site or not. Poor
site design too
- Screen-Scenes
- Affordable pay per click advertising
- Search2know
- Good design, returns no results if the search term is slightly of
a niche nature
- Search4it-online
- Bad navigation links (couldn't get to the home/search page). They
do offer 50 free visitors on sign up
- Searchanytime
- Pretty quick and returns relevant results
- Searchbidder
- Slow, very slow. Search function has an adult filter though
- Search Cactus
- Low quality clicks again, due to the inducement to searchers to click
on a link to earn money. They give searchers $2 just to sign up
- Searchflip
- Clean design, but returns no results if the search term is even slightly
of a niche nature
- Search Galore
- Doesn't return great search results. Open an account for $25 and no
minimum bid
- Searchhard
- Offers $10 in free search cash for each new sign up
- Searchhound
- Strap line is 'The Destination for the people who run the Web' ? Costs
a minimum off $100 to open an account. Signing up is a bit of a hassle,
should be simpler
- Searchlead
- Fairly quick, and search results pretty relevant. Annoying JavaScript
visual fireworks script in operation though
- SearchPronto - Clean design
and bids from $.01
- Searchqueen
- Pay per click search engine offering a free $10 account
- Searchtunnel
- Nice 'original' look, also returns relevant results
- Seekfindclick
- Couldn't wait around for this site to load
- Sewvillage
- Arts and crafts portal, as well as toys, dolls, games etc.
- Slapsearch
- Funky interface with a yellow duck, seems a bit slow though
- Solidhits
- Forces a pop-up when users do a search, pretty slow and returns non
relevant search results
- Splut - Presents
itself as a banner free directory of UK sites. Doesn't return great
search results
- Sprinks - One
of the higher profile pay per click search engines, can return some
irrelevant search results though
- Theinfodepot
- Supplemental results provided by AltaVista. Bonus clicks given when
you open an account
- Turbo10 - Fast search
results, uses results from many engines to supplement pay per click
rankings
- Ultimateresourcesite
- Average pay per click search engine. Annoying pop-up on entry to the
site
- Verygoodsearch
- Bit slow, puts non relevant paid listings above relevant non paid
listings
- Win4Win - More
lotto gimmicks to induce searchers to click on links, a bit slow
- Wookle - Offering
$25 In Bidding Cash For all new accounts
- Work
at Home Search Engine - Promote 'work from home' related goods and/
or services. Pretty quick
- Worldsearchers
- Slow and the search box didn't seem to be working correctly
- Wowclicks
- Cluttered design and irrelevant search results returned
- Xuppa - Formely known as Bay9.
Set up as a portal with webmail, weather info, daily horoscope and other
features to bring visitors back. The search results are pretty accurate
which is an improvement from Bay9
- Zugbo - Fast with
relevant search results
- 7search - Average
pay per click search engine, average site design
- 100results
- Fast pay per click, relevant searches returned
PPC tips
- You need to be sceptical of pay per click search engines that offer searchers money or incentives to click through their results. This can result in you footing a bill for unmotivated visitors
- There has been suggestion that some consumers tend to see PPC listings as advertisements, and as a result give them less value than the robot based results
