what kind of firewire cable should i buy?

okay i have a sony DCR-TRV22 camcorder and i need a firewire cable... i have absolutely no idea if there are different sizes and i dont want to buy a wrong one.
And is a firewire the only way i can get my videos onto the computer?? my camcorder records stuff onto a tape, and it DOES have a memory card but it says full and i cant delete anything from it...

Yes, to transfer video from your DCR-TRV22 you need to connect a firewire cable to the DV port on the camcorder to the firewire port on your computer. The camcorder's DV port is ALWAYS 4-pin. Since you did not tell us what computer you have we have no way to know if it has a 4-pin or 6-pin firewire port.

Firewire, IEEE1394a, i.LINK and DV are all the same thing in this context. USB will not work. USB-firewire converter/adapters will not work.
