I need help with a plot for my science fiction short story?
Well for my English assignment we has to do a creative piece on Science Fiction. OK, my story is set in a modern city of sky scrapers, all the buildings are white, glass and steel. People don't walk on the side street as everyone travels by car, but there is no pollution. There is a totalitarian government, so all the city has CCTV cameras and everybody is electronically tagged, so there is virtually no crime. The main character I decided is a female office worker who works in the government building who feels that the government has turned city life into mindless actions like being machines and she hasn't breathed in fresh air for months because people don't normally travel by foot, only by car which is auto piloted to a location. And that's all I've got.
I don't know what she can do in my short story because I've got writers block...
She makes some remark, publicly, about not liking the life. Then she gets mysteriously contacted by an underground group that's trying to change things. It all sounds safe enough, what they want her to do, but quickly turns dangerous (maybe because they blackmail her to do more than originally agreed or someone's life is on the line) and it climaxes at her getting caught and arrested, but the next day, she shows up back at her work, totally content with her life, no memory of anything ever happening and actually happy with her boring life. Dum Dum Dummmm.
